Some thoughts never get said out loud, and pass before you notice. Monologue gives them a voice, and a place to stay.

Every monologue comes back as text, titled, timed, placed and tagged, with your voice right beside it. Find last Tuesday’s idea in seconds instead of scrubbing through audio.

I keep saying I’ll call Dad on Sundays and then Sunday just disappears. So maybe it’s not Sunday. Maybe it’s the walk to the station, ten minutes, every Tuesday…
Each entry gets a photograph composed from what you said, coloured by the hour you said it. Your library becomes a contact sheet of your inner life.

No stock photos, no templates. Monologue reads what you said and composes a single analog-film photograph for it. Mornings in oat and sage. Afternoons in ochre. Evenings in amber. Nights in indigo. No one else will ever have yours.
Your monologues live on your phone and in Monologue’s private area of your own iCloud account. Not on ours.
Transcripts, titles and places are encrypted in iCloud with keys only your devices hold. We can’t read them.
Your voice reaches our servers only to be turned into text. Once your iPhone has it, we delete the audio and the transcript.
No advertising identifiers, no selling, no following you around the internet. A journal, not a product.
Make the tags that matter to you: work, family, the novel you keep not writing. Monologue listens to each entry and files it under every one that fits.
Your words are saved in small pieces as you talk. If a call comes in, the app crashes or the battery dies, everything up to that moment is still there.
Start from your Lock Screen, your watch face or the app itself. While you talk, a Live Activity keeps the recording in view.
If you like, each entry notes the neighbourhood and city you were in. Your exact location never leaves your phone.
Connect Monologue to Claude or ChatGPT and talk to everything you’ve said. Ask what you decided, what keeps coming up, or how you felt about something last spring, and get answers in your own words.
You talked about it twice. On 14 October you said you’d wait until spring: “not before the lease is up, and not without seeing the neighbourhood at night first.”
Two weeks later you sounded surer, and said the commute was the real reason.

“What’s been on your mind today? Start anywhere.”
“How was today, really?”
“What’s an idea you haven’t told anyone yet?”
“What’s the thing you keep coming back to?”
Speaking is about three times faster than typing on a phone, in a Stanford study of speech versus keyboard input. More of the thought makes it out.

Monologue is a voice journal for iPhone and Apple Watch. You tap once and talk; each entry is saved as audio, transcribed into text, tagged automatically, and given a one-of-a-kind cover photograph. Your monologues live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
If you use an iPhone, Monologue was built for exactly this: one-tap recording from the app, Lock Screen or Apple Watch, automatic transcription, tags that apply themselves, and a privacy model where the server deletes its copy after transcribing. Our roundup of the best voice journaling apps compares the main options honestly.
Yes. Recordings and transcripts are kept on your iPhone and in Monologue's private area of your own iCloud, where transcripts, titles and places are end-to-end encrypted with keys only your devices hold. Audio is uploaded only to be transcribed, then the audio and transcript are deleted from Monologue's servers, once your iPhone has the text. There are no ads and no tracking.
Yes. You can start a monologue from your wrist or your watch face without your phone. The recording is kept on the watch and arrives in your iPhone library when the two are together.
Optionally. Turn on 'Use with Claude or ChatGPT' in Settings and connect Monologue as a connector, then ask things like 'what did I decide about the move?'. Access is read-only, covers transcripts rather than audio, and turning it off deletes the server-side copy.
Nothing is lost. Monologue saves your audio in small pieces as you speak and recovers them after a crash, a phone call or a dead battery. There's no time limit on a monologue, and you can pause and resume.
No. Monologue at monologueapp.co is a private voice journal for iPhone and Apple Watch, made for keeping and coming back to your own spoken thoughts. It isn't affiliated with Every's Monologue, which is a dictation app.
