How can we help?
Write to hello@monologueapp.co and a person will answer. Most questions are answered below. For how your data is handled, see the privacy policy.
My monologue hasn't turned into text yet.
Transcription needs you to be signed in and online. Recordings made offline are kept safely on your iPhone and are transcribed automatically once you're connected. Long recordings can take a little longer.
How do I get my monologues on a new iPhone?
Sign in to the new iPhone with the same Apple Account, make sure iCloud is on for Monologue, and sign in to Monologue. Your library restores from your iCloud.
My Apple Watch recordings aren't showing up on my iPhone.
Open Monologue on your iPhone with your watch nearby. Watch recordings are kept on the watch until the iPhone confirms it has every piece, then they appear in your library.
How do I connect Claude or ChatGPT?
In Monologue, open Settings → Connect your AI and turn on 'Use with Claude or ChatGPT'. The app shows your connector link and the steps for each assistant. Turning it off removes access and deletes the server-side copy.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and everything about it from our servers. Your recordings stay on your iPhone and in your iCloud; you can remove those in the iOS Settings app under your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.
What is Monologue?
Monologue is a voice journal for iPhone and Apple Watch. You tap once and talk; each entry is saved as audio, transcribed into text, tagged automatically, and given a one-of-a-kind cover photograph. Your monologues live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud.
What is the best app for voice journaling?
If you use an iPhone, Monologue was built for exactly this: one-tap recording from the app, Lock Screen or Apple Watch, automatic transcription, tags that apply themselves, and a privacy model where the server deletes its copy after transcribing. Our roundup of the best voice journaling apps compares the main options honestly.
Is Monologue private?
Yes. Recordings and transcripts are kept on your iPhone and in Monologue's private area of your own iCloud, where transcripts, titles and places are end-to-end encrypted with keys only your devices hold. Audio is uploaded only to be transcribed, then the audio and transcript are deleted from Monologue's servers, once your iPhone has the text. There are no ads and no tracking.
Does Monologue work on Apple Watch?
Yes. You can start a monologue from your wrist or your watch face without your phone. The recording is kept on the watch and arrives in your iPhone library when the two are together.
Can I use my voice journal with ChatGPT or Claude?
Optionally. Turn on 'Use with Claude or ChatGPT' in Settings and connect Monologue as a connector, then ask things like 'what did I decide about the move?'. Access is read-only, covers transcripts rather than audio, and turning it off deletes the server-side copy.
What happens if my phone dies while I'm recording?
Nothing is lost. Monologue saves your audio in small pieces as you speak and recovers them after a crash, a phone call or a dead battery. There's no time limit on a monologue, and you can pause and resume.
Is this the same Monologue as Every's dictation app?
No. Monologue at monologueapp.co is a private voice journal for iPhone and Apple Watch, made for keeping and coming back to your own spoken thoughts. It isn't affiliated with Every's Monologue, which is a dictation app.
Is Monologue available on Android or the web?
Not at the moment. Monologue is built natively for iPhone and Apple Watch, and needs iOS 26 or watchOS 26 or later.
